Just more planned obsolescence and waste. Now there's no replacing a battery, you have to replace the entire unit.
I'm betting these 10 year batteries last about as long as the China-made 10 year CFL's that are now leaching Mercury into the ground and cost 10 times as much as regular bulb but rarely lasted even as long.

do not see anything wrong with this. Sometimes, HomeDepot would cancel half the order and would return the money. //@Anonymous: Home Depot knows this trick and it’s getting harder to do. Knock this off

The trick may or may not be a good idea. This miter saw guzzles battery juice and you need a good extra battery, which just happens to be at an okay price (well, maybe the extra charger is redundant.) Now if you really own a lot of them, maybe.

Can you just return the miter saw and keep the free battery??

A battery powered miter saw is a joke.

In CA, you cannot do it. If you want to return the battery, you need to return all the items with that discount. //@anonymous: Can you just return the miter saw and keep the free battery??

I just do not understand why ryobi use 18 instead of 40 for their table saw and miter saw.
18 just does not make sense for these two.

I agree with this. Unless you have to work in the area that has no power not even a generator.

It's not that the 3rd tool is free, but all the tools of your selection will be at a discount price. As a result, the final price will be equivalent to as if the kit is at original price, but the 3rd tool is free. In other words, if you return the kit, you won't get back what you paid. But still the discount is not bad.
