I generally avoid newly released electronic devices as they tend to be plagued with issues.
I would rather wait a few months or a year due to scalpers ruining things before considering buying it.

The funny thing is Japanese version is much cheaper (50000 yen, around 330 dollars) and then region-locked. Feels like go back to 3DS Nintendo period.

Apple's computer sale number has been declining month after month from their quarterly earning report. Loosing the market in very steady pace. Yet they keep feed us these 8GB ram machine costing you over 1K. I am in the market for a new laptop but I refuse to pay for such ridiculous specs. Why they never learn.

Yes, we all could. Like we could pay $10 gallon gas like everyone does in Europe. But that won't make you feel good. In fact, you feel frustrated. Same here. I could pay $2000 for a better specs Macbook. But it will make me feel being taken advantage of, being treated unfairly by Apple. That is why these 8GB machine is a joke and that is why Apple's computer sale is down hill. //@Anonymous: You can always pay more to get some extra, these are just base models for discounts //@Anonymous: a Pro model with only 8GB of RAM? This device is still useful when no cellular signals and your car has no builtin GPS.

Actually, the cellular signals are for accessing the map (and live traffic conditions) only. Most of cell phones currently have the GPS receiver on device and can receive GPS/location signals from different Satellites. You can pre-download the map into your cell phone device when you are in the hotel (restaurant, store, or home) with internet access. Then, you can use the pre-downloaded map on your phone as the GPS device on the road even if there are no cellular signals on the road. //@Anonymous: This device is still useful when no cellular signals and your car has no builtin GPS.
