It might be faster, but it is also past end of life. No more security updates means it is also easier for new viruses to get through. You can still upgrade for free to Win 10 and get a couple more years of security updates. //@anonymous: still using win8 pro x64 and much faster

For personal use, I would suggest ArchLinux for a server or a desktop. I still use Windows 11 but most of my home servers are ArchLinux.

I see a bunch of faculty and Grad students in Computer Engineering so proud to use LINUX. They are using Ubuntu as Windows GUI and they don't know what is cd or cp meant! //@Anonymous: Arch is really fantastic. It is good news for Linux if it finally starts to attract less tech-savvy people who do not use command line. And this is actually a selling point for Linux as well - you can get anything from a bare-bone command line system to a feature-packed, ready-to-use system. //@Anonymous: I see a bunch of faculty and Grad students in Computer Engineering so proud to use LINUX. No, it will not extend the existing subscription. It will just create another subscription. Then once the digital order is placed, it is non-refundable. //@Anonymous: Currently,I have the same plan active. Will it extend my plan for another year?

Keep in mind you can't upgrade the memory nor the storage so better to opt for a bit more even if it means paying the MS tax on the upgrade.
