why these non-main stream brands create so many large screen laptops? It makes more sense to own an compact laptop for carrying around, and if you need a large screen for productivity, just hook up with an external monitor which is much larger and cheap these days, even for a 32" one.

Not a major laptop brand but they manufacture professional laptops. You don't want to carry around the extra monitor. BTW, they are very light. I remember they use magnesium chassis. So, for the people who want to use a big and light (and Windows-run) laptop it can be a good option.

It is big for sure, but you do not benefit from the bigger size screen because for example the resolution of the 15.6" is still 1080 standard. I would not mind a half pound extra weight if a laptop is not that "light", but the shear physical size of these 15.6", not to mention these 17" ones, would not fit some travel bags at all. That is the problem. A 13 or 14" laptop makes a lot more sense, convenient for travel, and hook up an external monitor if you are stationary. //@Anonymous: Not a major laptop brand but they manufacture professional laptops.
