Reminder that the Playstation Vita was $250 USD during release in 2011 (equivalent to $348 USD in 2023), a system which alongside having the ability to stream games from both the PS3 and PS4, allowed you to play native games and use it for other purposes like web browsing, mp3 player, emulation, etc.

As a father of two tiny people, this is a godsend so I can play without hogging the TV. But make sure you look into it before buying, it's very limited. Only works only home wifi, NO BLUETOOTH FOR HEADPHONES, only wired headphones will work unless you pay $150 or $200 for their two new headphone options. The old Pulse 3D headset I already have won't even work. Some disappointing lack of features for sure, but again I am still very excited to get one for my personal situation

Negative. you can play anywhere as long you have a Wifi connection and your PS5 is in Sleep. With all due respect, are you absolutely sure? This is counter to every description I've read. You have to be on your home Wi-Fi, according to Sony. I figured there may be a tricky hacker-man way to play remotely, but it doesn't appear to be intended. //@anonymous: Negative. you can play anywhere as long you have a Wifi connection and your PS5 is in Sleep. Can PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player only be played on my home Wi-Fi network?
While your home Wi-Fi network represents a great option to use PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player because you have control over the quality of your own home Wi-Fi, it is not required. PlayStation Portal™ Remote Player can also be played wherever you have access to broadband internet Wi-Fi with at least 5Mbps for use*. For a better play experience, a high-speed connection of at least 15Mbps is recommended. If you are using public Wi-Fi, be aware that the quality of the internet connection may be out of your control, and could impact the quality of your play experience.https://direct.playstation.com/en-us/buy-accessories/playstation-portal-remote-player //@Anonymous: With all due respect, are you absolutely sure? This is not even the REAL portable device. Its merely extension of your PS5 console. It wont work without your main PS5 console. Thats why the price is $199. Tbh, its ridiculous stupid. the device have to stay within the perimeter of your wifi & your PS5 console. It looks cool etc, its not the real portable device. Thats my 2 cents. //@anonymous: Reminder that the Playstation Vita was $250 USD during release in 2011 (equivalent to $348 USD in 2023), a system which alongside having the ability to stream games from both the PS3 and PS4, allowed you to play native games and use it for other purposes like web browsing, mp3 player, emulation, etc.

i think the point they are making is that the vita is a $250 full-fledged portable console while this is a $200 screen and controller that cannot operate away from your $400 console... it does kinda seem like a step backwards in technology. //@anonymous: So what? //@Anonymous: Reminder that the Playstation Vita was $250 USD during release in 2011 (equivalent to $348 USD in 2023), a system which alongside having the ability to stream games from both the PS3 and PS4, allowed you to play native games and use it for other purposes like web browsing, mp3 player, emulation, etc.

I think they’d never make that again since no one is developing games for a mobile platform outside of phones. PSP/vita and ds games were mobile only games whereas even the switch lite plays full switch games. I think this if fine as an accessory esp since it’s the same price as their elite controller and people were pumped about that. For my purposes I picked up a refurb steam deck from GameStop for about 30 bucks more, installed chiaki so I can stream from ps5 and heroic launcher so I can play my free epic games, and can still play most steam titles and emulation

I have one, can't live without it. That being said, lag is an issue. It's almost certainly not even bandwidth dependent. It can be frustrating, but most people can find a solution. I get brief lag for about 1-2 seconds, which can happen either every minute or two, or maybe once in 30 minutes. Reading up on it, this is extremely common. Jsyk

Just get a steam deck or legion or something similar. Absolutely don't make sense to pay money just to play online with friends. Games also much cheaper too.

This is pretty much a waste of money. Your gameplay depends on your internet connectivity. If you're in areas w/ poor internet connection, you're done. I regret buying this.

I don't think it's dependent on internet connectivity. Wi-Fi, I believe, is more important. But even then, it can lag for unknown reasons. I still have my casio scientific calculator from 30+ years ago and it still works. It got me through 2 engineering degrees. They might have been the first to have calculators with continuous calculation (exe instead of equal sign). I bought one of those TI financial calculators just for my professional engineering exam and it broke right after. I think there is a conspiracy to promote TI products in the US in schools. Just look at a syllabus and see if there is mention of casio. Casio was better than TI in my days and I still think it is.

I am using a Ti-84 Plus CE from several years ago. Previously, I used my Casio to get my Ph.D. degrees. But, I will never go back to Casio again. TI is fantastic.
BTW: I teach college-level engineering mechanics. TI-84 plus is good enough for most engineering courses, but I will recommend a newer/higher version.

If your engineering students are going to take PE exam(s), please read below: "To protect the integrity of its exams, NCEES limits the types of calculators examinees may bring to exam sites. The list of approved calculators is reviewed annually.
The following calculator models are the only ones acceptable for use during the 2020 exams:
Casio: All fx-115 and fx-991 models (Any Casio calculator must have “fx-115” or “fx-991” in its model name.)Hewlett Packard: The HP 33s and HP 35s models, but no othersTexas Instruments: All TI-30X and TI-36X models (Any Texas Instruments calculator must have “TI-30X” or “TI-36X” in its model name.)" //@Anonymous: I am using a Ti-84 Plus CE from several years ago. We disprove how the TI controls the market and had refused to buy one for a long time. On the other hand, I’m so glad that I ordered one a couple weeks ago. My 9th grader was able to use TI during his math test right away! I often pays just as much for a Cross fountain pen anyway!

I don't know how TI made the list of "qualified calculators for tests", but surely its a sweet deal for them. Year after year, high schools kids have to buy them. To me the tech on these calculators are kind of ancient, and any $5 app on the smart phone can beat it easily.
