After I activated this phone with Verizon service, do I have to stay with them for a specific period of time?

You can't. That's the catch. //@anonymous: If I am not currently Verizon customer, do I have to active a new line? I found the month service is not cheap and $40 activation fee for that. How can you avoid the 1st month fee and activation fee? Thanks.
