Danke //@anonymous: Chrome OS is Linux base. The new model can boot directly to Linux //@Anonymous: Good question, modern Chromebooks without the Mediatek (ARM) chips should support Linux. I think this one might not because it's not x86.

They’re unable to fulfill the order due to high demand. Probably expired

Nowadays you can have a computer everywhere. A computer for the living room, bedroom, bathroom, closet, attic, garage, etc. //@Anonymous: I consider it as a deal if the price is $230.
How much space you have on your cloud? It is not convenient if you really want to do something, even for game playing.

Actually, I stand corrected. This MIGHT support linux: https://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-linux

Can a Chromebook boot directly into bash without a GUI desktop? //@anonymous: To those who just rant about Chromebooks. Chromebooks bring people closer to storing everything in the cloud. It's almost like a dummy terminal to a mainframe. The MediaTek processor has an advantage over the Celeron/Core iX platform as battery life is extended and is ARM-based (of course it's not an Apple M-chip). Keep scoffing at these 'for-kids' laptop and one day you'll soon join them.

Yeah, nowadays some adults do the same things with kids on Chromebooks -- browsing, playing games, Netflix, etc. //@Anonymous: To those who just rant about Chromebooks. Some schools rent out chromebooks. We rented one rather than rushing to buy a cheap one this year.

No. Lots of schools use chromebooks //@anonymous: Ain't you need windows for school?
