Tesla qualifies the $7500 //@anonymous: Enter 100% unless the vehicle was a vehicle with at least four wheels manufactured by Tesla or General Motors (Chevrolet Bolt EV, etc.).

Tesla. The credit is not available for Tesla vehicles acquired after December 31, 2019. For more information, see Notice 2018-96, 2018-52 I.R.B.1061, available at IRS.gov/irb/2018-52_IRB#NOT-2018-96.
General Motors. The credit is not available for General Motors vehicles acquired after March 31, 2020. For more information, see Notice 2019-22, 2019-14 I.R.B. 931, available at IRS.gov/irb/2019-14_IRB#NOT-2019-22.

Make too much money to qualify

Most TSLA drivers are too dangerous to be on motorways....

This is what it says on IRS Website "You can use your modified AGI from the year you take delivery of the vehicle or the year before, whichever is less. If your modified AGI is below the threshold in 1 of the two years, you can claim the credit." //@Anonymous: If you purchase this car in 2022, then it will be your 2023 join filing income when you file in 2024 to get the credit. However, 300k is after all the deductible. You may still qualify //@anonymous: My 2022 income as joint return is less than $300K and my 2023 joint income will be more than $300K. Am I eligible for $7500 credit?

It is really funny to see those Tesla drivers completing with Bolt drivers for using the free charging stations

By anonymous on 01/14/2023, 11:30 PM EST
Good luck finding a charger when you on the go and also when the battery need to be replaced.

Look like Model Y performance model is not eligible for $7500 federal tax credit.

By anonymous on 01/14/2023, 12:01 PM EST
if you pay less than 7500 fed tax, you can’t get 7500, capped at the tax you paid. if you earn more than 300k couple, you are not eligible for this tax credit. Car is for fun or transportation tool, not an investment.

The difference will be seen: 50K turned into 10K 5 years from now. I wouldn’t touch their stock. TSLA has been historically overvalued (look at their P/E ratio) and they are overdue for a correction. Multiple banks and analysts have downgraded the stock from HOLD to SELL. Better off putting that 50K into an S&P index fund instead. Finally, cars are a TERRIBLE investment. //@anonymous: use your 50K to buy tesla's stock now rather than buying it's car. After 5 years, you will see the difference.

Those in inventory has autopilot function which cost more. You need to order new order without that function to get lowest price //@anonymous: I see cheapest one on their inventory is $55,990 2023 Model Y Long Range Dual Motor All-Wheel. where is the 52,990 ?

By anonymous on 01/14/2023, 08:42 AM EST
Poor people couldn’t get the $7500. It is a non refundable tax credit, so if you don’t owe $7500 in federal tax, you get nothing!

By HeyLow on 01/14/2023, 08:25 AM EST
For other brands it may be a charging problem, not for Tesla, MX and MY owner here having done 1000 miles + single length road-trip on both. GPS will point to all charging. But reliability especially on the MX is horrible, too many bells and whistles that doesn’t work correctly when you need it to. //@anonymous: Because of battery limitations, I still believe an electronic car is a headache and not reliable for a long trip.

By anonymous on 01/14/2023, 08:18 AM EST
Out of stock now.

By anonymous on 01/14/2023, 06:44 AM EST
If you don't have a route with a lot charging stations along the way, it is pretty much a no-go. The US needs to invest in this charging infrastructure before e-cars are really practical. //@Anonymous: Because of battery limitations, I still believe an electronic car is a headache and not reliable for a long trip.

anyone knows the current wait time for delivery? It sounds the rebate deadline of March is based on delivery date

By anonymous on 01/13/2023, 08:20 PM EST
Well that's only in hindsight. The price could go up like it did in 2021. Timing the market is impossible. //@Anonymous: Problem is rich people couldn’t get 7500 credit … only tax bucket below some number can get
//@anonymous: Why would you think that only poor people use Dealsea? A lot of rich people get rich and stay rich by being thrifty. //@anonymous: wow great deal! I am in for 10 Teslas ... I didn't thin Tesla buyers are Dealsea's demographic...

Bad move by Tesla. Lots of people not qualified for the $7500 will take the offer as a poison pill. They would opt for better value in BMW, Audit and etc where they are expect to lower their ICE car prices that is in the same class as those TSLA. Instead, Tesla should've gone with $6000 price reduction, and $6000 partial tax credit match for those who don't don't qualify for the $7500 tax credit. This way, everyone will be happy. $13500 savings seems lot less than $19500 making it slightly less affordable but at least you don't lose buyers with $150K individual tax filing and $300K joint-filing.

You never know. With you mindset you should've already bought late Dec. LOL //@Anonymous: Come on it's a good price already. You don't wait for good deals on cars or houses! //@Anonymous: Just wait. The price will keep dropping in 2023, because Tesla already lowered the cost and it needs to keep its market share.

Who else took the delivery in Dec 2022? Lost $10k+ for a model y in one month. We are angry about the price drops, but y is pretty good car. Hope the stock price can move up.

Do u mean tricked by Tesla? //@anonymous: This is the worst car purchase experience in my life. I feel like I am being tracked by Tesla offering the $7,500 credit which is the same amount as the tax credit offered for EVs(negotiable). Tesla tracked all the customers who pick up their model 3 & model Y in December 2022 while already planning the price cut.

Model Y already dropped to around $40000. Model 3 already dropped to around $30000 in some competitive marketplaces.

Question is what type of Ice car you own. Are we comparing applies to applies? or oranges? //@Anonymous: my tesla is cheaper in insurance then my ICE car. //@Anonymous: Don't buy Tesla. It has double insurance cost as the other ev cars

By anonymous on 01/13/2023, 01:44 PM EST
Probably a combination of Musk mishandling Twitter purchase and his public image, along with increased competition from other car manufacturers getting into EVs. Tesla has had a monopoly for years so, it can charge whatever it wants, but now it has to moderate pricing. Otherwise, buyers will buy other EVs as they offer a lower price entry point and better incentives.

there are lots of fine prints to get the credits. model Y was not qualify due to some silly rules originally. They had to lower price to qualify but the terms are being reviewed. I am guessing they will raise the price back in March when those terms get refreshed. So this discount wouldn't last long. Its just to stay competitive and take the advantage of tax credits for customers. //@Anonymous: What they are saying 7500$ tax rebate is only till March? Sales tactics? I thought the tax rebate is long term.

By anonymous on 01/13/2023, 10:57 AM EST
So the tax credit only works if the sales price of the car is < 55,000. There are no model 7 Long Range under 55K near me. :) Like within 250 miles. Tempting but I'll hold off.
