Samsung recently subtly changed the parts of the 970 EVOs, and as such performance took a small but noticeable hit. Anyone interested should pay close attention to which version they are getting, as the new model does have a new SKU.

A year ago these were $350. Never but these when they first came out. Not worth it.

Crypto ice age coming. Memory and SSD prices will cut in 1/2 within the next 6 months. Check ebay for used memory and SSD’s, they will be a penny per 100M.

I definitely wouldn't buy a huge one like this, but buying some form of PCI gen 4 M.2 now seems very appealing. They so fast! //@Anonymous: A year ago these were $350. Never but these when they first came out. Not worth it.

I doubt that, given the situation of chip shortage and widespread inflation. //@Anonymous: Crypto ice age coming. Memory and SSD prices will cut in 1/2 within the next 6 months. Check ebay for used memory and SSD’s, they will be a penny per 100M.

Now is half a penny per 100M. Will be quarter a penny per 100M by the end of 2023. CPU and memory demand will continue to fall as cypto mining dies down. Forget about AI because there is no such thing. ChatGPT is a fluke as there is no true AI advantage since Deep Blue. Whatever they call AI today is no more than "Automation + Big Data" but calling that AI is total bullshit. https://www.newyorker.com/science/annals-of-artificial-intelligence/there-is-no-ai //@anonymous: I doubt that, given the situation of chip shortage and widespread inflation. //@Anonymous: Crypto ice age coming. I love Pixma when it works. Hate it when it breaks. Currently just using a brother laser printer. Nice to not have to fuss with ink, but I miss the color option.

Don't buy it if you don't need it. I paid ~$130 for a 500G one 5 years ago. It has been collecting dust most of the time since.

Just because most people bought 2TB version. The control circuit has serious hardware issues, not the SSD. //@Anonymous: most complaints are from 2TB version. it seem 2TB ones got lots of failures. so please check and do more research before purchasing them.

i bought three 4tb and two 2tb of them as a photographer, i fill them on a daily basis....2tb are dead, didnt even make it 6 months, before files went missing or corrupt. two of the 4tb developed same issues just took 9-10 months....sandisk replaced them all, and i sold the new ones they sent me. changed over to a usb-c nvme enclosure and nvme drives, no issues. //@Anonymous: Just because most people bought 2TB version.
